International Webinar "Unlocking the Link Between Responsible Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining (ASGM) and Ethical Gold Jewelry"
In nutshell, traceability and transparency in the supply chain is a key element within the ethical jewelry community. It means that when both the jewelers and the consumers claim that the materials and the jewelry they buy are sustainable and ethical, they shall be able to confidently respond to queries, such as: Where were the gold from? Were these recycled? Were these ethically mined and from legal mining areas? Were these processed with hazardous substances such as mercury? Do the suppliers/producers give back to the community? Making efforts to seek answer to these queries from the suppliers is a first yet meaningful step to encourage responsible practices within the mining sector.

In the above context, the GOLD-ISMIA Project will organize an international webinar with the topic of “Unlocking the link between responsible ASGM and ethical jewelry”. It will be a platform for sharing information, knowledge and lessons learned on ethical jewelry and how this can contribute to responsible practices in the ASGM sector.

Note: Simultaneous translators (English – Indonesia – English) will be provided throughout the webinar
